What it really means is stimulating your baby’s senses through deliberate and caring interaction – and that’s something that all parents already provide for their infants. Because infants aren’t quite ready for lesson plans and textbooks, the best way to start their education on how things work in the world is to stimulate each of their five senses, encourage recognition and imitation, and eventually foster autonomous sensory exploration. This is much easier than it sounds, and you can do it effectively by following your parent’s intuition and using some of the following tips.

For Parents: Taking Charge of Your Children’s Sex Ed

Image
Guest post by Maria Rainier Talking to your kids about sex sounds awkward, frustrating, disturbing, frightening, and a whole slew of other adjectives you don’t even want to bring up. But it’s part of your job as a parent, and there are resources to help you through the preparation, explanation, discussion, and Q&A of sexual education. It’s really one of the best things you can do for your kids, and even if they don’t thank you now, they’ll be glad you talked to them. You might be afraid of hurting your child’s feelings, bringing up something they don’t want to know about, or saying the wrong thing. But it’s important to take this step before someone else does – you can control what your children learn about sex if you teach them preemptively.
