Expanding asteroid settlements

Expanding asteroid settlements is easier than early science fiction wishful dreams we should trash about very big rocket vessels going to land on Mars or Venus, for those in space suits to then manually slowly try constructing living and food growing places, though of little or no advantage over staying living on Earth.

Why try? A small Asteroid swinging in near Earth is much easier to reach and extremely easier to land on. Its materials are usefully little segregated, in contrast to planets badly having not much of some wanted good elements at the surface, thus requiring slowly mining them out from special places maybe far from you from maybe deep under the surface.

And then later, leaving Mars or Venus to return to Earth would be much more difficult, in contrast to very lightly leaving a small asteroid swinging in near Earth's orbit, to soon skim your vessel (with wings) into Earth's atmosphere, then glide down to land at an airport. And living almost weightless on a small asteroid would be easier and much more comfortably relaxed, also more fun, such as being able to air swim, and easier fun taking less energy doing things in slight weight, (including maybe repeated extended sexy fun).

A 200m radius cylinder Asteroid settlement with 20 2.5m high levels could later be expanded wider or given more levels, (not much of a construction problem for a 3-10km 3g/cc asteroid having almost weightless 1/7860 - 1/2360 of Earth gravity.) Or 6 more such cylinder settlements could be eventually assembled around the first, all then joined at the bases. Then all would conveniently live not too far from all others, or even closer if all stayed in the center cylinder with the new surrounding cylinders then used mostly for robotic farming and manufacturing etc.

Each pair of the 7 cylinders, touching at their bases, would have their center axes tilted apart on 3-10km asteroids by 15.2-4.6 deg. fitting such an asteroid's avg. curved surface. Their 50m high top disk edges would thus become spaced apart by at least 13.2-4m. Or more nicely, form surface cylinder settlements with all levels curved some like the asteroid's surface, (being supported by their internal cable networks which hold in proper air pressure), and with locally vertical sides, wider at their tops by 6.6-2m, and all 20 levels then usefully joined, for folks to pass between, where joined to an adjacent cylinder.

Thus the population could eventually grow to at least 875. And later maybe join the tops of 7 adjacent cylinders and also join the spaces between each 3 to gain extended joined levels for more living and work and play space. Later maybe build even more 20 level cylinders to join these, all on one small asteroid. If a few dozen small asteroids had such growing settlements, that could add up to tens of thousands of people enjoying almost weightless easy living in space, with many even daily tasks done by robotic devices at no cost.
