Basic terms associated with Mantras

This is a continuation of my post Know and understand your Mantras.This post again is for the benefit of non Indian readers. In this post I am giving some common and basic terms associated with mantras.

Mantra – A unique configuration of sounds whose repetition can bring about certain specific and definite results.

Mantra Shastra – The science of making use of and utilizing the powers hidden in certain combination of sounds.

Mantra Yoga – That branch of Yoga wherein the powers hidden in certain configurations of sounds are used to unfold the consciousness.

Mantra Siddhi – Mastery over one or more Mantras or realization through Mantras.

Mantra Shakti – The power of Mantras.

Mantrik – One who is a practitioner of the science of Mantras or someone who deals in Mantras.
