रुद्रयामल तंत्र मे 64 भैरव के नामो का उल्लेख है .
प्रमुख रूप से काल भैरव और वटुक भैरव की साधना ही प्रचलन मे है .भैरव का उग्र रूप है काल भैरव और सौम्य रूप है वटुक भैरव .सद-गृहस्थ प्राय: वटुक भैरव की उपासना करते हैं,जबकि श्मशान साधक काल भैरव की .
श्री कालभैरव वटुकभैरव के शाबर स्तोत्र मंत्र बड़े प्रभाव शाली बताए जाते हैं .शत्रु क्षय,उपद्रवो की शांति ,पुष्टि कर्मो की सिद्धि के लिए इनका प्रयोग होता है .
सभी प्रकार के पूजन/हवन/प्रयोग में रक्षार्थ इनका पुजन होता है.
ब्रह्मा का पांचवां शीश खंडन भैरव ने ही किया था.
इन्हे काशी का कोतवाल माना जाता है.

काले रंग का वस्त्र तथा आसन रहेगा.
दिशा दक्षिण की ओर मुंह करके बैठें
इस साधना से भय का विनाश होता है तथा साह्स का संचार होता है.
यह तन्त्र बाधा, भूत बाधा,तथा दुर्घटना से रक्षा प्रदायक है.
