Real Cause of Unhappiness

This post is dedicated to all those who are feeling unhappy or sad due to a variety of reasons. To really understand what is unhappiness, why it is caused and its purpose, one has to go beyond conventional thinking. I would like you to have a look at this very popular poem written by Kabir, the great Indian poet whose writings have a blend of Non-Duality and the Spiritual. The meaning of this poem is that whenever a person is unhappy or has suffered a loss he remembers God and seeks his help.and intervention This can be compared to digging a well when you are thirsty. When there are no problems there is no God, very few remember him.

दुख़ में सुमरन सब करे l
सुख में न करे कोय l
सुख में सुमरन करे l
तो काये को दुःख होय ll

Dukh me sumiran sab kare l
Sukh me kare na koy l
Jo sukh me sumiran kare l
To dukh kahe ko hoy ll

Unhappiness is that tool used by the Ever-Existent whose purpose is to make you use those areas of the mind which remained unused. It is only when the mind is used in totality that it starts expanding, which is its true nature, to expand and grow. When the mind is enslaved in a particular channel to the exclusion of everything else it mutates and becomes morbid. The mind need a continuous flow of mental massage or exercise to aid its development and reach its full potential which is to become not only like what ones sees as the Divine, but become the Divine itself.

Becoming the Divine is the last stage in the unending cycle of evolution. This process covering millions of births in various bodies reaches its penultimate stage when the coveted sate of the human body is scaled. This is a summit as the entity reaches the level of the thinker and the knower.

The flow of evolution is so strong that it cannot be stopped. When attempts are made to stop it the Ever –Existent intervenes and creates such circumstances, which may cause unhappiness or mass unhappiness to correct the flow. The chain reaction of evolution can never be stopped, if stopped what occurs are corrective steps which may be destructive.

Organized and man made religion is a barrier created by well meaning but misguided persons, which has attempted to stop the natural evolutionary growth of its misguided followers. This is the prime cause of unhappiness and uncertainty. I would like you to have a look at these self explanatory quotes of Mahatma Gandhi on what true religion really is.

“Hinduism is a relentless pursuit after truth and if today it has become moribund, inactive, irresponsive to growth, it is because we are fatigued. As soon as the fatigue is over, Hinduism will burst forth upon the world with a brilliance perhaps never known before."

“Whatever of substance is contained in any other religion is always to be found in Hinduism, and what is not contained in it is insubstantial or unnecessary."

"Hinduism is like the Ganga, pure and unsullied at its source but taking in its course the impurities in the way. Even like the Ganga it is beneficent in its total effect. It takes a provincial form in every province, but the inner substance is retained everywhere."
