Dynastic politics and corruption go hand in hand in India. The menace of dynastic politics is the root factor in the present condition India finds itself in. There seems no light at the end of the tunnel, as corruption in India, has now taken gigantic proportions, of a magnitude not fully known to the Indian public. Corruption has now engulfed the entire nation, and is the major threat to the survival of India as a nation.

The root cause of corruption in India is it political dynasties. It not only suits the ruling dynasties to have a corrupt structure of governance, they in fact thrive on it. They have since the days of Nehru, actively encouraged and abetted corruption, to safe guard their own selfish interests and agendas, and safe guard their dynasties.
What dynastic politics does is create a circle of parasites around itself. This circle gives strength to the owners and vice versa, they thrive on each other. There are numerous parasites and hence it is child play for the owners to pit one parasite against the other if the need arises.
By dynastic polities, I do not mean just the family of the Indian National Congress Goddess Sonia Gandhi. Dynasties are present everywhere right from the Cabinet Ministers level to the Chief Minister level, right down to the state legislator and the corporater and Gram Panchayat President level. These dynasties have been built over a period of time beginning from the days when Jawaharlal Nehru founded democratic India’s first ruling dynasty. No doubt, Nehru’s example has inspired almost all the dynasties, which thrive like parasites in India today.
Mass media is used to create an image and magic about the scions of the ruling dynasties. All major successes are then attributed to the rulers, and failures thrust on the shoulders of some of the parasites. This is the modus operandi of most of the dynasties. Money and a position of power is the only attraction for the parasites.
The recent resounding defeat of Sonia Gandhi’s and Lalu Prasad Yadav's dynasties in the Bihar Assembly Elections exposes the so-called magic of their dynasties. The voters of one of India poorest and underdeveloped states have rejected outright these royal families of democratic India. This exposes their so-called charm and magic, no matter what reasons their servants might put forth.
The honest media in India should create a public awareness campaign, especially concentrating on the rural population, not to vote for the political dynasties and their candidates. This seems the best way to bring corruption under control in a democratic set up. This is not the dream solution, but a major step forward in combating the menace of corruption.
India is a great country with a glorious heritage and culture, it is a country of 120 crore people, it does not need the Ramu Kakas of the ruling dynasties to govern it.
