Mantras to Meditate Upon Panchamukhi Shiva

In this post, I have written about three Mantra to Meditate upon the Panchmukhi form of Lord Shiva. The Panch Mukh or Five Faces of Shiva are said to encompass the Universe and everything contained in each and every aspect of creation.

These Panchmukhi Shiva Mantras should be most useful to dedicated Shiv Bhakts who wish to Meditate upon this form of Lord Shiva.

The basic significance of the Panchmukhi Shiva is that it over the five main directions- East, West, North, South and Akash or the Sky.

Each of these Five Faces of Shiva have also have been associated with the Panch Mahabhoots or the Five Elements of Creation- Earth or Prithvi, Agni or Fire, Jal or Water, Vayu or Air and Aakash or Ether.

The Panchmukhi Form of Lord Shiva can also be called as the Cosmic or Universal Form of Shiva, which contains within it all of creation.

Panchmukhi Shiva

The three Mantras to Meditate upon the Panchmukhi Shiva are given below. These Mantra as mention above can be useful to devotees of Lord Shiva, especially those striving for Moksha Prapti or those advanced practitioners who are trying to understand the unknown.

मंत्र
ॐ पंचानानाय नमः ||
Mantra
Om Panchaananaaya Namah ||

मंत्र

Mantra
Om Panchamukhaaya Namah ||

Meaning: The meaning of the three Panch Mukh Shiva Mantras is the same “I salute/ pray to the Shiva, who has Five Faces”

The practitioner can chant anyone of the three Panch Mukh Shiva Mantras given above as they serve the same purpose.

The Mantra is to be chanted like a long term Shiva Meditation Mantra as it will start getting potent after the completion of 800, 000 Mantra Chants.

If the practitioner desires, he or she can make the use of a Rudraksha Beads Counting Rosary to keep track of the number of Mantra Chants. However, it in not recommended that the practitioner should count the number of Mantra Chants as he is likely to be distracted from the main purpose of the Meditation, which is concentration upon the Panch Mukhi Shiva Mantra.

Note- Numerous Mantras, Yantras, Stotras and Prayers dedicated to Lord Shiva can be seen in the section on – Shiva Mantra and Prarthanas
