फिर इस यंत्र पर ताम्बे की कटोरी में चतुर्मुख (चारों ओर से चार बत्तियों का )घी का दीपक जलाकर रख दें। तदनन्तर गंध पुष्पादि से यंत्र का पूजन करें। फिर पूर्व की ओर मुख करके बैठें और हरिद्रा (हल्दी)की माला से "ॐ ह्रीं हंसः "इस बीजमंत्र की छह मालाएं जपकर चाक्षुषोपनिषद के कम से कम बारह पाठ करें। पाठ के बाद फिर उक्त "ॐ ह्रीं हंसः "मन्त्र पांच मालाएं जपें। इसके बाद भगवान् सूर्य को श्रद्धा पूर्वक अर्घ्य देकर प्रणाम करें और मन में यह निश्चय करें कि मेरा नेत्ररोग शीग्र ही नष्ट हो जाएगा। ऐसा करते रहने से इस उपनिषद का नेत्ररोग नाश में अद्भुत प्रभाव बहुत शीघ्र देखने में आता है।
