In this post, I have written about an ancient Shabar Mantra with deep, profound meaning that may interest practitioners of Advaita or Non-Duality. This mantra has the potential to instantly affect the deepest parts of the chanter's sun-conscious mind and transform him into believing that he is neither the body nor an illusion.
How to Chant the Mantra to Shift Your Consciousness: This mantra possesses the vibrations to change the consciousness of seekers and transform their thought process. Even if you do not understand the language of the Shabar Mantra, meditating on the meaning of the mantra can enlighten your mind. It is a direct path to awakening the mind and gaining inner freedom.
Mental Meditation: Instead of reciting the mantra verbally, the practitioner can chant it mentally at least 11 or 21 times. It is composed in simple, easy-to-understand language. Those who do not know Hindi can meditate on the meaning of the mantra.
Sitting in Silence: After completing the meditation, the practitioner should sit quietly for at least 5–10 minutes and immerse themselves in the realization that he is not the body, but that very imperishable consciousness.

Shabar Mantra to Understand Non-Duality:
ॐ गुरु जी, अलख निरंजन, आत्म तत्व। न मैं काया, न मैं माया, न मैं जीव, न संसारी। जो कुछ है सो तू ही तू है, अलख पुरुष अविनाशी। सतगुरु धारा अगम अपारा, घट ही में दीदार कराया। ॐ सोऽहं सिद्धो गुरुभ्यो नमः।
Translation of the Mantra:
Om Guru Ji, Alakh Niranjan, Aatma Tattva. Na Main Kaaya, Na Main Maaya, Na Main Jeev, Na Sansaari. Jo Kuch Hai So Tu Hi Tu Hai, Alakh Purush Avinaashi. Satguru Dhaara Agam Apaara, Ghat Hi Mein Deedaar Karaaya. Om So-Ham Siddho Gurubhyo Namah.
The Simple Meaning of this Mantra for Formless Existence:
Divine Guru, You are the formless, pure, ultimate reality behind everything. [ Here the Divine Guru can also be termed as the Unseen Energy of Infinite Ever-Existent Force behind creation.}
I am not this body, not this illusion, not a small, limited soul, not just a person living in the world. [ I am the imperishable consciousness.]
Everything that exists is really just You — the invisible, indestructible, highest truth. [ I Am.]
The wisdom passed down by true teachers runs deep and endless. It's what opened my heart to see the divine truth within myself.
I am That — I am one with the Divine. I bow to the enlightened masters who showed me this. [I am That means that the chanter is a part of the ultimate divine energy; he resides in that energy and that energy is inside him.]
How long will it take to alter the consciousness? It can happen instantly, even on the first day of the meditation. This mantra is not for getting anything in return. It is for dissolving the ego and union of the self with the over-self or Advaita or Non-Dual Existence.
Important Tips for Practitioners: The seeker should not try to suppress his thoughts during the meditation. Whenever thoughts, emotions, or sensations of pain arise, the seeker should simply observe them as a 'witness' (seer) without becoming attached to them.
I have not prescribed any specific rules or techniques for this meditation practice because people interested in Non-Dual Meditation are mostly advanced practitioners who have gone through the basic meditations. Practitioners can dwell on the way in which they can use this mantra or its meaning to remove the illusion of Maya from their minds.
Do not sit with the expectation that you are going to gain something "new" through meditation. Non-duality teaches that you are already free and complete; meditation is merely a means to dispel the illusion that you are the body or the mind.
