In this post, I have written about a Shanti (Peace) Mantra to heal the mind by calming it and getting rid of unwanted thoughts, unbearable stress, and tension. When you lose control over your thoughts, it creates severe mental distress, which also hurts physical health and well-being.
Harmful Effects of Mental Distress: Mental Distress affects the mind, like a slow-acting poison. It has adverse effects on physical health; some of the more common and harmful side effects are listed below.
Physical Problems: Continuous stress and mental distress adversely impact the stress hormone 'Cortisol'. This leads to problems like insomnia, where the sufferer becomes restless and finds it difficult to sleep due to the continuous flow of unneeded thoughts.
Mental Stress quickly affects the stomach and leads to indigestion, acidity, and loss of appetite.
It weakens immunity and sometimes increases blood pressure, which can lead to heart problems.
Mental Problems: Common problems are a decline in decision-making ability, low confidence, loss of memory, and lack of concentration. Stress causes fear, irritability, haste, and adversely affects relationships.
Spiritual Problems: Mental Distress reduces positive energy and depletes the attraction powers of the sufferer. It weakens the aura and the energy field surrounding the sufferer. This is the reason why mental distress is called a “Silent Destroyer”.

The Procedure of Chanting the Mantra to Silence Unwanted Thoughts: The practitioner can chant the mantra in a silent place. He can sit in a comfortable position, with the spine straight, and chant the mantra at least 21 times.
To Get Rid of Unwanted Thoughts, and when the Mind is Turbulent: The practitioner can chant the mantra mentally and verbally. This can be done while he is sitting, working, or walking.
When Experiencing Insomnia: If unneeded thoughts take over the mind and the practitioner is unable to sleep, he can chant the mantra lying down in bed.
ॐ नमः शान्ताय दिव्य रूपाय नमः ||
Om Namah Shantaya Divya Rupaya Namah ||
How this Mantra Works to Calm the Mind: The wording of the mantra can give the practitioner an idea of how the vibrations created by chanting the mantra affect the subconscious mind.
Om: The primordial sound of the universe that leads the mind into a state of absolute stillness.
Namah Shantaya: Means "Salutations to 'Peace". Repeatedly chanting these words makes the subconscious mind calm and silent by banishing restlessness and unwanted thinking.
Divya Rupaya: Means "Divine Form". This phrase awakens the higher self within the practitioner, which makes petty worries and tensions appear unimportant and trivial.
