In this post, I have written about probably the most potent technique of awakening the Third Eye or Ajna Chakra. This method uses a simple meditation technique using the OM Sound Code. This is the purest form of Third Eye Mediation that has been tried and tested successfully.
This Third Eye meditation technique directly activates the Pineal Gland using the OM Mantra code described by me in this post,
The Procedure of practicing the Third Eye Meditation Technique is described below:
The Best Time of the Day: Brahma Muhurta, or the period about 1.5 to 2 hours before sunrise in the most potent period for Third Eye Mediation. There is a mystical, pure stillness in the atmosphere during this period.
If not possible in the morning, the meditation can be practiced at sunset. This is also a beneficial period for practicing OM Meditation.
The OM Meditation for activating the Third Eye should be practiced on an empty stomach. This ensures a continuous flow of energy towards the brain.
Sitting Direction: Sitting facing the east is very beneficial for gaining knowledge, supernatural powers, and spiritual advancement. The east is associated with the energy of the Sun or Solar Energy, which helps in stimulating the Ajna Chakra.
Sitting facing the North Direction is beneficial for those practitioners who wish to gain Moksha or Liberation and nothing else. This direction is suitable for progressing in the deeper and higher forms of meditation.
Sitting Mat: A woolen sitting mat or a mat prepared using Kusha Grass is ideal for the Third Eye Meditation. Such mats prevent the energy generated during meditation from flowing into the earth by retaining it in the body.

The Procedure of Practicing Om Nada Anusandhan to Open the Third Eye:
Asana and Mudra: The practitioner can sit in a quiet place, either in Sukhasana or Siddhasana Pose, with his spine straight. He should keep his hands on his knees in the Gyan Mudra Pose with the tips of his thumb and index finger joined together.
Shambhavi Mudra: This is an important part of the Om Meditation Technique to stimulate the Third Eye. The practitioner should close his eyes without straining them and mentally look at the centre of Ajna Chakra or the Third Eye, which is the point between his eyebrows.
Technique of Chanting the OM Mantra: The practitioner should inhale deeply and chant "OM" in such a way that it is divided into two separate parts:
'O': Keep this short (about 30% of the total duration). This part should be short, about 30% of the Om Mantra.
'M': The M should be longer, about 70% of the OM Mantra.
While chanting OM, the practitioner should focus their entire attention on the center of the Ajna Chakra. The practitioner will sense a vibration in that area, which is generated by the chanting of the 'M' sound.
Mental Chanting: After chanting OM 11 or 21 times verbally, the practitioner should maintain silence. Then, he should mentally listen to the sound of "OM" vibrating within his forehead. This is known as Ajapa-Japa, where the mantra continues to resonate internally without being spoken aloud.

The resonance of the 'M' sound directly stimulates the Pineal Gland and opens the Third Eye. This is the reason why, in my opinion, this is the simplest but most effective meditation to activate the Ajna Chakra of the Kundalini Shakti.
