Astral Travel or Astral Projection is a mysterious and controversial phenomenon about which science and spiritual traditions have different opinions. In this post, I have tried to make it simple for the believer to engage in Astral Travel and gain out-of-body Experiences.
What is Astral Travel?
Astral Travel is commonly defined as "the soul or consciousness or Prana is leaving the body and traveling to other worlds". It also means that the Prana is leaving the body consciously and traveling in the atmosphere for some time. It is an established fact that some people can intentionally or unintentionally leave their physical body and travel in the Astral Plane.
In this state, the practitioner feels himself floating in the air, going to another room, or even going to supernatural places. Some people claim that they can contact dead people, gods, or other spiritual entities in this state.

Hindu Spiritual Beliefs Regarding Astral Travel:
Many religions and spiritual traditions consider Astral Travel to be real. In Hindu Yoga philosophy, it is called "travel of the subtle body". Patanjali's Yoga Sutra mentions states like "Prajnaloka". Apart from Hinduism, a great deal has been written in Tibetan Buddhism about Astral Travel.
Some Common Experiences of people claiming to do Astral Travel:
Some Advanced Yogis and Sadhus claim that they can obtain supernatural information about the past, present, and future from Astral Travel. Laypersons experiencing Astral Travel claim that their soul or Prana traveled through the roof and they could enter other houses and see other persons.
Some people say that they saw their body from above (Out-of-Body Experience – OBE). Others saw unknown places or people, which later turned out to be true.
Simple Technique for Successfully Practicing Astral Travel: Astral Travel is not something difficult or something involving complicated techniques. In fact it is very simple and easy to practice; the only essential requirement is complete belief and confidence that you will succeed without difficulty.
The best time to practice Astral Travel is while sleeping at night. It is advisable to have dinner about two hours before practicing Astral Travel. There is no specific technique or method; the practitioner has to lie down comfortably on his back and imagine that his soul or Prana is leaving his body. The practitioner will feel a throbbing or vibrating sensation in the back of his neck. This is the indication that the Prana is leaving the body. I have written about this simple technique in 2010, that post can be seen here: Simple Technique of Practicing Astral Travel.
The practitioner should only think and imagine that the Prana is leaving the body; that is all. Another important thing is not to try to analyze Astral Travel or what you are attempting scientifically, and just do what I have mentioned. Remember, children are said to have spiritual or supernatural experiences because they believe in what they are doing, as one grows older, one starts thinking and analyzing everything scientifically and logically, and loses their powers or supernatural abilities.
Once the soul leaves the body, the experiences of the practitioners can differ; this is the reason why I have not written about the probable experiences. There is no need to chant any Mantra or Prayer or meditate on any symbols because that will only distract the mind and prevent the practitioner from succeeding.
