A true prayer to God

What is true prayer?
How do I pray to God?
What am I praying Go?
How can I connect to God?

These and a whole lot of such questions are really relevant ones; not to be scoffed at.

I am reminded of Adi Sankaracharya’s immortal classic the Bhaja Govindam where he advises those who mechanically follow the set practices " Who is your wife?  Who is your son?  Strange in this world, of whom are you?  Where did you come from? Brother, ponder over these truths.”

I wish to ask the one who is praying and to the one who is advising others how to pray - Brother do you have the answers to Adi Sankaracharya’s questions?

This is a verse from The Shat Padi another one of Sankaracharya’s compositions; which according to me comes as close as possible to what a true prayer to God should be like. This prayer of Sankaracharya should be pondered over again and again as he was one of the greatest of those who achieved Non - Duality.

A true Prayer to God

Meaning
Even as I have merged into you Oh! God, I am yours but you are not mine because a wave belongs to the ocean but the ocean does not belong to the wave.
