Ashtagandha and Devdutt or Amuk Yantra Shastra

In this post, I have described the uses of the words Devdutt, Ram, Amuki, Amuk and Amuken in the composition of many Yantras and Mantra and also the use and composition of Ashtagandha in Yantras and Puja-Vidhi.

There are many Yantras, which contain the word Devdutt- देवदत्त or sometimes Ram – राम. This confuses many practitioners, especially lay-persons who mistake the word as standing for the Gods Devdutta or Shri Ram.

This is not the case because Devdutt or Ram is the word, which stands for the target or the person at whom the Yantra is directed. Even if there is no commentary given regarding this in the texts, this word should be replaced with the name of the targeted person.

Ashtagandha Ingredients and Devdutt or Amuk Yantra Shastra

Most of the times the words Amuk-Amuken-Amuki – अमुक-अमुकी-अमुकेन are used in many Mantra and Yantras, these have to be replaced with name or names of the targeted persons.

Sometimes the words Amuk Aur Amuken – अमुक और अमुकेन appear in some Mantras and Yantras, especially those related to Videshan Karma or the Tantra to separate people. Here these words have to to replaced with the names of the two targeted persons who are desired to be separated.

The composition of Ashtagandha and the commonly used ingredients for making Ashtagandha.

Many lay persons are also confused by Ashtagandha, which is commonly used as the ink to draw or write many Yantras.

Ashtagandha as the name suggests is a mixture of Ashta or eight scented or fragranted substances. The commonly used substances are Chandan, Aagar, KumKum, Haldi, Gorochan, Shilajit, Jatamansi and Kapur.

However, Kesar, Kasturi, Tulsi, Bel or some other substances are also likely to be used. This is likely to confuse the practitioner because there are more than one combinations used to prepare Ashtagandha.

These combinations are also likely to vary according to the purpose for which they are used and also the specific deity who is desired to be worshiped. There are some variations of Ashtagandha that are used to worship specific deities, like Ganesha, Shiva and Vishnu.

Hence, if you wish to purchase Ashtagandha for writing Yantras or for the purposed of worship, it is better not to go into these fine details and purchase the products from a reliable source.
