This is a Shiva Mantra which is chanted with devotion by those who have renounced worldly life. The meaning of this Panchakshari [5 letter] Shiva Mantra is – The Shiva who helps us survive the Ocean of existence.

This is a deeply devotional Mantra especially for those who have no material wants; but only seek the ultimate liberation. This is the recommended Mantra for Meditation on Shiva .

If householders want to chant this Mantra then I advise them to add the word “Om” before the Mantra.
