In this post, I have written about a Mantra, which is chanted to get food without asking or begging. This Mantra is among those Mantras, which were practiced by Sadhus or those persons who depended on Bhiksha or Alms for fulfilling their needs of food in the by-gone ages in India.
Even today, there is a practice of giving Bhiksha to Sadhus and needy person in rural regions of India.
This Mantra was practiced by thus – When the Sadhu entered the boundaries of a Village or Basti, he picked up some gravel from the ground and held it in the right hand and infused it with the Mantra, by chanting the Mantra given below 7 times.
He then, flung the Mantra Infused Gravel in the direction of the village. This simple Mantra-Vidhi was said to fulfill his need for food without having to strive for it, while staying in that particular village.
Another simple Mantra to get food and nourishment while traveling or temporarily residing in another village or town can be seen here- Mantra to get food in another town. This is a devotional Mantra, which attempts to invoke the Hindu Goddess of food and nourishment Annapurna Devi.
