Feng Shui and Vastu Tips for Home Decor

Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra, which is the Indian science of architecture, and the internal layout and decoration of buildings, prescribe some dos and don’ts for home décor. Most of these tips are common and are largely prescribed for attracting the most positive and harmonious vibrations and keeping out the harmful and negative energies from entering the building. In this post, I have given some home decoration tips, which are common to both Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra.

1] Vastu Shastra advises against the use of the Heads, Skulls, Skins and other body parts of wild animals to decorate the walls, floors and other parts of the house. Avoid Skull-Decor, which normally uses the Skull of a Cow.

2] Vastu Shastra advises against the use of the images, photographs, posters. and statutes of wild, fierce and carnivorous animals, especially those scenes that show them stalking, hunting, killing or consuming other animals. Both Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui say that this generates and attracts negative energies into the house.

3] Both Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui considers images, photographs, posters and paintings of ancient palaces and villas, forts, damaged and ruined houses as inauspicious decorative pieces.

4] Using swords, knives, daggers, guns and cannons as decorative show pieces on the walls or other areas of the house is said to make the owner and other permanent residents of the house short tempered and the atmosphere in the house remains tense.

Vastu Shastra also advises that torn old clothes, torn and damaged books, broken showpieces and toys, old and damaged footwear and damaged and broken furniture should as far as possible not kept in the house.

Photographs, painting and posters of Saints, Holy Persons and Gods and Goddesses are considered more beneficial for attracting harmonious vibrations into the house than those of actors and rock stars.
