Dattatreya Aarti - English - Marathi

Dattatreya is the manifestation of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, the Hindu Trinity. It is written in the Hindu religious texts that Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh disguised as guests went to the House of Anusuya, a women of great purity and tried to test her purity by asking her to serve them food. They told her that they would accept the food on the condition that she serve them the food without wearing any clothes.

Such was the purity and power of Anusaya that when she removed her clothes Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh turned into infants. Impressed by her purity and power the three came back into their original forms and asked her for any boon. Anusaya told them that she wanted them to be born as her child. Hence Dattatreya was born, he has three heads.

This is an Aarti dedicated to Dattatreya in the Marathi Language; I have tried to translate it as best as I could.

Aarti ovalu gurusi l Brahmavishnumaheshasi ll Dhru.ll

Didhle atmadaan jagati l Mhanvuni sridatta tuj mahanti ll

Brahmarupe jag srujsi l Vishnu tuchi pratipalisi l

Har harisi bhar utarvisi l Paar deauni atmagyan pranti l

Kiti tav smarne jaagi tarti ll 1 ll

Nirgun chitadhan vastusi l Antiansuyatmaj mahanti l

Leela davuni uddharsi l Manavdeha jari dhirisi l

Pari nasasi deha,haachi sandheya l Hrudayi asuni hi murti l

Jaaniv lopli andhamati l Aarti ovalu shrigurusi ll 2 ll

आरती ओवाळू गुरुसी l ब्रह्माविष्णुमहेशाशी ll ध्रु.ll

दिधले आत्मदान जगति l म्हणवुनि श्रीदत्त तुज म्हणती ll

ब्रह्मारूपे जग सृजसी l विष्णू तूचि प्रतिपाळिसी l

हर हरिसी भार उतरविसी l पार देऊनी आत्मज्ञान प्रणती l

किती तव स्मरणे जगी तरती ll १ ll

निर्गुण चित्धन वस्तुसी l अत्नीअनसूयात्मज म्हणती l

लीला दावूनी उध्दरसी l मानवदेहा जरी धरिसी l

परि नससि देह, हाचि संदेह l हृदयी असूनि ही मूर्ती l
