Hreem Beej Mantra Master Key to Piercing the 3 Psychic Knots of the Kundalini

Most practitioners of Mantra Vidya come across the Beej Mantra Hreem in every second or third mantra. But very few know the fact that it is the “Master Key” for piercing 3 Granthis or Psychic Knots within the Sushumna Nadi and enabling the upward flow of the Kundalini Shakti.

This information is contained in authoritative Tantric texts like Sharda Tilak, Mantra Mahodadhi, and Gyanarnava Tantra, and is generally not made public. It is passed down solely through the oral Guru-disciple lineage. There are 3 secret techniques of utilizing the unimaginable power of ह्रीं Hreem in these sacred scriptures.

In this post, I have written about the secret technique of piercing the 3 primary knots by chanting the Hreem Beej Mantra. The 3 knots are Brahma Granthi, Brahma Granthii, Vishnu Granthi, and Rudra Granthi.

Brief Information About the 3 Primary Granthis and Chakras corresponding to them: I have given only the basic details because most practitioners of Kundalini Yoga will be aware of them. Those who don’t know can see the sections on Kundalini Tantra.

Brahma Granthi [Muladhara and Swadhisthana Chakras or Root and Sacral Chakras]: Trapped in the illusion of physical or worldly desires.

Vishnu Granthi
[Manipura and Anahata Chakras or Solar Plexus and Heart Chakras]: Bondage of emotions, attachment, and fear.

Rudra Granthi [Ajna and Sahasrara Chakras or Third Eye and Crown Chakras]: Bondage of ego and ignorance.

The Vishuddhi Chakra is not present in any knot; it is the last of the 5 lower chakras and can be termed as the cleansing area to purify the energy rising from the Kundalini Shakti and enable it to flow to the Ajna and Sahasrara Chakras.

Hreem Beej Mantra to Open Kundalini Shakti

The Procedure of Reciting the Hreem Beej Mantra to Make the Kundalini Shakti Move Upwards:

Time: The best period for chanting the Hreem Mantra is at Sunrise or between 10 PM and 12 PM.

Sitting Position: The practitioner should sit on a clean, light-colored sitting mat in the Yogic Pose of Siddhasana or Padmasana with the spine straight.

Gaze: The practitioner should close their eyes and focus their gaze mentally on the point between the eyebrows, where the Third Eye is located.

There are three stages in the Chanting Method for Piercing the Granthis or Psychic Knots, in which the single word 'Hreem' mantra is divided into three parts, to stimulate the Three Granthis:

1] First Stage: Piercing the Brahma Granthi (Muladhara and Swadhisthana Chakras). The practitioner should focus his attention on the Muladhara Chakra, located at the base of the spine.

Chanting Method: He should inhale deeply. While exhaling, he should mentally meditate on the sound 'Ha' in a very slow, deep, and confident tone, mentally touching the Muladhara Chakra with the sound.

Visualization: He should mentally think that the sound 'Ha' (representing the Akasha or Ether element) is awakening the dormant Kundalini energy in the Muladhara Chakra and pushing it upwards. This means that the Brahma Granthi has been loosened.

2] Second Stage: Piercing the Vishnu Granthi (Manipura and Anahata Chakras). After the completion of the first step, the practitioner should immediately shift his attention mentally to the center of the chest ( where the Heart Chakra is located).

Chanting Method: Continuing the flow of breath, the practitioner should mentally chant the sound 'Ree'. There should be a clear vibration of the 'Ra' sound (representing Agni or Fire).

Visualization: The seeker should experience the burning away of fear, anxiety, discontent, and accumulated past impressions (Samskaras) within the Heart Chakra. He should feel the Vishnu Granthi being pierced and a flow of boundless love emerging.

3] Third Stage:
Piercing the Rudra Granthi (Ajna and Sahasrara).  He should move his focus upwards from the point between the eyebrows (Third Eye) towards the Sahasrara ( Crown Chakra located at the crown of the head).

Chanting Method: With lips closed, he should mentally chant the nasal sound 'Mmm...' (humming sound).

Emotions: The resonance of this 'Ma' reverberates within the cranial cavity like the ringing sound of a bronze bell; piercing the Rudra Granthi of the Ajna Chakra, it opens the gateway to intuitive knowledge and the infinite consciousness of the Sahasrara.

How Much or How Long to Chant: The practitioner can start with 21 chants and progress to 108 chants when he gets the hang of it. If some people using a counting rosary or counting counter can take their attention away from the mantra chanting, they can chant for 5 minutes and progress to 15 minutes. This ultimately depends upon the individual experiences of seekers.
