Deadly Sins in Hinduism and Sacred Mantras for Spiritual Liberation
In this post, I have written about the meaning and effects of Grave Sins. The term "Ghor Paap" means such grave and long-lasting sins, whose effect can bind the soul not only in this birth but also in future births, and whose atonement is considered to be difficult. According to religious texts and realized saints and yogis, these sins are mainly classified into three broad categories:
1] Sins related to Violence and Murder:
Killing an innocent person.
Killing a Guru, parents, Brahmin, or guardian.
Killing children or disabled persons.
Intentionally torturing someone.
Unnecessary killing of animals and birds.
2] Sins related to Injustice and Betrayal:
Insulting a Guru, God, or religion.
Disrespecting or burning the Vedas, Puranas, and other religious texts.
Breaking a promise or deceiving someone by deceit.
Deceiving a person who has come seeking refuge.
Betrayal of a friend or family member.
3] Immoral Conduct and Unholy Deeds:
Adultery, especially with your Guru's or friend's wife.
Committing a crime after consuming intoxicants.
Theft, stealing from temples, or misusing donated goods.
Burning property with malicious intent or wasting food and water intentionally.
Not helping the hungry and thirsty, even when one is capable of helping them.

5 Grave Sins According to the Hindu Holy Scriptures: The Manusmriti, Garuda Purana, and Mahabharata, term these sins as "Mahapapa" or grave atrocities. The effect of these sins is that the soul of a sinner is severely affected, and he loses mental, social, and spiritual peace.
5 Biggest Sins According to the Garuda Purana: The 5 biggest grave sins that are specifically mentioned in the Garuda Purana are called "Panchamahapapa". By committing these, a person has to face severe consequences and a journey to hell, unless he gets salvation through intense repentance and devotion.
Brahmahatya: Killing a Brahmin, a Guru, or a learned person, and an innocent person. This also includes parents, Acharya, and a religious guru.
Sura-paana: Drinking intoxicants (especially liquor), which destroys discernment and leads to sinful action.
Swarna-steyam: Stealing, especially gold or precious metals, from a holy place. Theft from a temple, hermitage, or charitable institution is considered the greatest crime.
Guru-patni Gaman: Having an illicit relationship with the wife of your Guru, teacher, or mentor. This is the extreme form of betrayal and breaking of Dharma.
Association with Panchamahapatki: Living, befriending, or accompanying a person who commits any of the four sins mentioned above. The scriptures believe that even association alone leads to sin.
How to Remove These Sins and Gain Salvation: According to the Garuda Purana, the only way to overcome these sins is through chanting mantras, bathing in holy places, giving alms, and practicing sincere devotion to God. The soul can be purified only by seeking refuge, especially of Lord Vishnu, Shiva, and the Mother Goddess.
Vishnu and Shiva Mantras for Salvation: The person who has committed grave sins can get salvation by chanting any one of the two Sins Removing Mantras 108 times every day with unflinching faith and surrender to either Bhagwan Vishnu or Lord Shiva. The first Mantra is dedicated to Bhagwan Vishnu, and the second one to Lord Shiva.
ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय सर्व पाप नाशाय गोविन्दाय नमः ||
Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya Sarva Paap Naashaya Govindaya Namah ||
ॐ नमः शिवाय शुद्धाय पाप नाशाय नमः ||
Om Namah Shivaya Shuddhaya Paap Naashaya Namah ||
Along with the chanting of these Mantras, the practitioner should always engage in virtuous behavior and help needy persons whenever possible.

God never stopped us from indulging in Alcohol...
ReplyDeleteAs indra himself drowns himself in wine..
.
the only difference is
We drink to get drunk and attached.
They drink to celebrate and get high in a divine state.
So my theory is
you can drink all you want...
but drink to celebrate , not to be attached to the outcome.
One drink to cheers.
One drink to emancipate.
wouldnt take you to hell.
As long as your prayers are in tact.
No hell can bound you.
Thanks
