In this post, I have written about some interesting information and beliefs connected to the Navarna Mantra “Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vichche,” which is arguably one of the most sacred and popular of all Hindu Mantras. This Maha-Mantra has been described as “Mantra-Raj” in the Markandeya Purana.
The Meaning of All the Letters of Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vichche:
This Mantra contains the combined power of the Beej Mantras Aim, Hreem, and Kleem. Aim is the Beej Mantra of Goddess Saraswati, and it means “Hey! Goddess Saraswati, Please remove our / my Sadness”.
The next Beej Mantra Hreem is the Beej Mantra of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari and is composed using ह, which represents Shiva, ई represents Mahamaya or the Supreme Illusion, र-Represents Prakriti or Creation. The Bindu or Anusar completes the Hreem Mantra, which means “Goddess Bhagavati Bhuvaneshwari, who nourishes the Three Worlds, Please remove our / my Sadness.
The Beej Mantra Kleem is the Krishna or Kaam Beej Mantra. क Represents Krishna and Kamdeva, ल represents the King of Gods Indra, ई represents Santushti or Satisfaction, and adding Bindu or Anusar completes the Kleem Mantra, which means “Goddess Maheshwari, Please remove Lust and Sadness from my / our life.
The three Beej Mantras, Aim, Hreem, and Kleem, are universally believed to represent the three goddesses, Mahasaraswati, Mahalakshmi, and Mahakali, with respect to the Navarna Mantra.
The fourth to seventh letters, चामुण्डायै, mean Tat, Sat, and Anand or Divine Truth, Pure Consciousness, and Supreme Bliss of Happiness. The eighth and ninth letters, विच्चे, mean “We Know”.

The Navarna Mantra is composed of Nine Letters or Navakshari Mantra as shown below.

Adding the Pranav Om to the Navarna Mantra will make it a 10-letter or Dasakshari Mantra. Many Sadhaks and Practitioners of Mantra Shastra believe that adding Om or Namah at the start of the Navakshari Mantra will make it Napunsak or Nirarthak or Devoid of Potency and Meaningless. This is because the Navarna Mantra is composed using Beej Mantras, which replace or perform the function of Om.
However, it is also believed by some advanced practitioners of Mantra Shastra that chanting Om before starting the Navarna Mantra Jaap and on the completion of the Mala or 108 Mantra Chants will unlock and activate the power of the Mantra.
