This is one of the most popular and famous of the Marriage Mantra to be chanted by a girl of marriageable age. Today I will tell you its meaning and the right way to practice it. The mantra is chanted to invoke the blessings of Katyayani Devi; the sixth manifestation of Shakti Mata.
The mantra originates from The Bhagavata Purana. It is a prayer to the Goddess Katyayani by the Gopis of Vrindavan; imploring her to make Krishna, her husband. This prayer was chanted by all the unmarried Gopis who fasted and placed certain restrictions upon themselves in order to invoke this boon from the Goddess.
This mantra has to be chanted early in the morning after a bath before an image or idol of Katyayani Devi. The girl should worship the Goddess and offer some Kumkum to the Goddess and then take a little bit of that Kumkum and apply it on her forehead.
The sixth day of the festival of Navratri is dedicated especially for the worship of Katyayani Devi and hence is considered as an extremely auspicious occasion for unmarried girls to fast and chant this mantra to get the bridegroom they have always wished for. The procedure for chanting the mantra should be the same as mentioned above.

Please let me know if i should chant the katyani mantra for delayed marriage or just the katyani mantra. Also can i chant this mantra anytime during the day, or does it have to be at a specific type and procedure.
